Hotel, Night, Guest Porters Job Description. Hotel Porters works at the front of house in hotels. They have a lot of contact with hotel customers and guests and are responsible for a variety of tasks ensuring the customer's stay is a relaxed and enjoyable experience so they will want to return and also recommend the hotel to their colleagues.
Duties that Hotel Porters will have to perform are carrying the customer's luggage to rooms and demonstrating the features of the room, ventilation, television, lights ect.
Porters will normally be the first point of contact for customers seeking information on the local area They may be asked to book tickets for attractions and arrange transport for guests. Hotel Porters also deliver food, drink and newspapers to customers rooms, as well as tasks like picking up dry cleaning or laundry.
Night Porters tasks are similar to those of the Day Porter however they normally have less direct contact with guests. Night Porters will be responsible for checking in guests who arrive late and fulfilling any room service orders that may be required.
Night Porters may also have set up public rooms for conferences, assist bar staff and take delivery of morning newspapers. Hotel Porters will work in conjunction with the Hotel Receptionist and normally report to the Hotel Manager.
